Description

This course explains your duties as a supervisor regarding health and safety at the workplace. You will learn what Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (the Act) requires of you. The course also outlines how to recognize and address hazards to keep your workers safe.

Topics include:

  • An overview of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
  • Your role and duties as an Ontario supervisor to maintain a healthy and safe work environment
  • Recognizing common workplace hazards and assessing their risk to workers
  • Introducing and evaluating measures to address workplace hazards

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

Use the objectives from the course:

  • Recognize your role as the supervisor in upholding workers’ three basic rights
  • Describe the internal responsibility system (IRS), and the responsibilities of the employer, supervisor and worker
  • Identify common workplace hazards
  • Describe the basic steps in preventing and controlling workplace hazards
